The Holy Monastery is located near Patras, a few kilometers from the city of Nafpaktos, opposite Eupalio, at an altitude of approximately 700 meters. It is a monastic monastery founded in 1991 by Archimandrite and Elder Nektarios Moulatsiotis, who is still the abbot of the Monastery and is an important newer pilgrimage.
It is the only monastery in the world that is dedicated to the great Russian miracle worker Saint Seraphim of Sarof, to whom it was dedicated after miraculous signs performed by the Saint during the period of the foundation of the Monastery, in 1990, among which it is mentioned descent of the Active Light on Golgotha of the Monastery on the day of the feast of Saint Seraphim, as well as appearances of Saint Seraphim in the Monastery area and many healings of patients.
Sights
Here is the largest bell tower in the world, with 400 signs and 62 bells, which the tradition of our nation tells us that this bell tower had Hagia Sophia church in Constantinople, a symbol of the glory of Byzantium. Pilgrims have the unique opportunity to hear impressive bell-ringing with tropes of saints of our Church.
The Catholic Church of the Holy Monastery is a stone Byzantine cruciform church with wonderful frescoes, dedicated to Saint Seraphim of Sarof and Saint Augustine. Inside the church are kept the miraculous icons of Panagia Trikorfiotissa, Agios Nektarios and Agios Nikolaos from Constantinople.
Holy relics
The Holy Monastery keeps many holy relics of various saints and martyrs of the church that pious visitors can worship, such as: Piece of Holy Wood from the Cross of Christ, pieces of holy relics of St. Seraphim of Sarof, Saint Augustine, Saint Anne (mother of the Virgin Mary), Saint Nicholas, Saint Charalambous, Saint Athanasius, Saint John of Chrysostom, of Saint Savvas the Sanctified, of Saint Barbara the great martyr, pieces of holy relics from the infants killed by Herod in Bethlehem, of the Josebite martyrs from the Holy Monastery of Joseva in Jerusalem, of the martyrs slaughtered from the Holy Monastery of Saint Theodosius in Jerusalem, of the slaughtered martyrs from the Holy Monastery of Agios Savvas the Sanctified in Jerusalem, as well as various other saints.
Outdoor dances
In a specially designed area, where the miraculous signs from Saint Seraphim took place, as well as his appearances, visitors can worship the effigy of the Tomb of Christ and Calvary on which the Created Light descended and to see images from the life of Saint Seraphim.
Next to the holy temple rises one of the largest crosses that exist in Greece, 16 meters high.
There is also a beautiful grove with various animals and birds, where the wooden chapel of Panagia Gerontissa is located. The Holy Monastery also has modern camps that host hundreds of children and young people during the summer.
The monastery is renowned for its hospitality and the monks are happy to offer visitors a full guided tour for their spiritual benefit.
The faithful who visit the monastery have the blessing of obtaining the holy sacrament of Agios Nikolaos, which the Monastery acquired through the miracle of Agios Nikolaos. The holy water has the protection of Saint Nicholas and performs many miracles and does not deteriorate over time.
